Laggan Bay Distillery, located on Islay, brings together whisky production, brewing and visitor experience within a striking coastal setting. Working directly for Laggan Bay Distillers Limited and Islay Ales Company Limited, Norsign delivered a cohesive external signage package that reinforces brand identity across multiple buildings on site.

The project required bold, high impact building identification that would sit confidently against both dark and light cladding finishes, while respecting the industrial architecture and exposed environment. Our team manufactured and installed a suite of flat cut building text and logos across the distillery and brewery buildings.
This included:

Oversized BEER FROM ISLAY building text to the dark clad brewery elevation
Flat cut logos and emblems for Islay Ales and The Islay Boys Ltd
High performance external vinyl graphics
Manifestation graphics to glazed entrances and visitor areas
Each element was precision fabricated to ensure crisp detailing at scale. The Laggan Bay lettering was finished in brand matched blue, mounted directly to profiled metal cladding to achieve strong contrast and long-range visibility.
We carefully set out fixing locations to align with the cladding ribs, maintaining clean sight lines and consistent shadow gaps. Vinyl graphics and manifestations were produced to deliver privacy where required while reinforcing brand storytelling at entrance points.
The result is a unified identity across the site, clearly distinguishing the distillery and brewery operations while maintaining a consistent visual language.

Operating in a coastal environment required careful material selection and fixing strategies to ensure long term durability. We advised on appropriate substrates, finishes and corrosion resistant fixings suitable for the exposed Islay setting.
Our team managed site surveys, detailed setting out and coordinated installation works to align with the client’s operational programme. Working directly with the distillery teams, we sequenced installation to minimise disruption and maintain safe access to production and visitor areas throughout.
Through proactive coordination and attention to detail, we ensured that each elevation delivered maximum impact without compromising the building fabric or programme.
