The Ravelin Sports Centre is one of the University of Portsmouth’s flagship facilities, providing world class sports, health and wellbeing facilities for students and the local community.

Working directly for the University, Norsign Group Ltd manufactured and installed a large external illuminated building sign that delivers a bold architectural statement while reinforcing the University’s identity across the campus.
The project centred around the manufacture and installation of a bespoke illuminated building sign comprising a large tension flex faced University logo and individually illuminated built up lettering reading UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH. The complete assembly was mounted onto a bespoke support framework, allowing all cabling and electrical components to be concealed behind the sign to maintain the clean architectural appearance of the façade.

Delivering signage of this scale required careful planning and coordination from initial survey through to final installation. Bespoke structural supports were engineered specifically for the building, allowing the sign to be securely fixed behind the architectural cladding while maintaining the integrity of the façade. Installation was completed using specialist access equipment, with close coordination of electrical connections and site activities to ensure the project was delivered safely and efficiently.
