A major refurbishment of the historic Citizens Theatre required carefully considered architectural signage that respected the building’s character while delivering strong visual presence. Appointed by Kier Group, Norsign manufactured and installed three sets of bespoke illuminated building text to enhance visibility and reinforce the theatre’s identity following completion of the works.

The project comprised three distinct illuminated signage types, each selected to complement different elevations and viewing conditions.
One set of lettering was produced using traditional cabochon bulbs to provide a warm theatrical glow. A second set utilised neon illumination, referencing the heritage and performance culture associated with the venue. The third set was manufactured as built up face illuminated text, delivering a crisp and contemporary appearance.
Two of the three installations were positioned at high level, requiring careful coordination of access, fixings, and electrical integration.

Working closely with Kier Group, Norsign coordinated surveys, manufacture, and installation to align with programme constraints and site conditions on this city centre project.
Detailed planning ensured safe high-level installation, accurate positioning, and seamless integration with the building fabric. Close collaboration with the wider project team allowed the illuminated signage to be delivered efficiently while maintaining quality, safety, and respect for the historic setting.
