The Digital Life Building at Teesside University is a bold, contemporary facility designed to support digital technologies, immersive learning and industry collaboration. With its distinctive perforated façade and high impact internal environments, the building required a signage package that matched its architectural confidence while delivering clarity, accessibility and compliance throughout.

Norsign manufactured and installed a comprehensive internal and external signage solution that seamlessly integrates with the building’s modern design language.
Externally, we delivered high level flat cut building text, carefully positioned across the perforated façade to ensure maximum visibility while respecting the grid and rhythm of the cladding system. Detailed coordination was essential to achieve precise fixing locations without compromising the architectural envelope.
Internally, the scheme included:
• Braille and tactile wayfinding signage
• Floor directories
• Internal wall graphics aligned to the university’s brand identity
• Glazing manifestations
• Statutory signage throughout
Each element was developed to complement the bold interior palette of black, red and feature finishes, ensuring consistency across performance spaces, circulation zones and teaching environments.

Working closely with the client team and main contractor, Norsign ensured that all signage was coordinated with finishes, lighting layouts and final room data. High level installations and feature elements were planned in advance to align with access requirements and programme constraints.
Accessibility and compliance were central to the project. All tactile and braille signage was produced in accordance with relevant standards, with careful attention to contrast, mounting heights and legibility. Manifestations were installed to meet regulatory requirements while maintaining the clean aesthetic of the glazed elevations.
Through early coordination, detailed surveys and controlled installation sequencing, we delivered a cohesive signage package that enhances both user experience and brand presence across the building.
