Norsign Appointed on New M62 Warrington Services for Extra MSA Group
Norsign has been appointed by Glencar Construction to deliver the full signage package for the new M62 Warrington Services development on behalf of Extra MSA Group. This landmark roadside scheme will provide a high-quality motorway services environment, and we are pleased to support the project with a comprehensive, fully coordinated signage solution.
Our appointment builds on our established relationship with Extra MSA Group, as we successfully delivered the full signage package at Skelton Lake Services, Leeds, along with supporting multiple other Extra service stations across the UK. Since 2019, we have partnered with Extra on consultancy, design development, manufacture, installation, and ongoing maintenance, helping to evolve and refine their signage package across sites nationwide.
A Complete Signage Package
Our scope of works at the new site in Warrington includes:
Installation of large-scale external totems.
Provide high level building signage.
We will implement traffic and directional signage across the site.
Create internal wayfinding signage.
Full statutory and safety signage.
This multi-layer signage scheme requires that brand presence, traffic management, user experience, and compliance operate as one coordinated system.

Through our ongoing partnership with Extra MSA Group, we have actively supported the development of their signage package beyond simple manufacture. We have included:
Design concepts and brand integration across large format structures
Development of site wide wayfinding schemes
Detailed technical drawings for multi-storey totems
Site specific structural calculations
Coordination of sign schedules across multiple locations
Our experience at Skelton Lake and other operational service stations has provided us with valuable insight into visibility, driver approach speeds, tenant changeovers, and long-term maintenance considerations. We continue to use these lessons to inform how we approach new developments such as Warrington.
Visibility at Scale
Motorway service areas require clear, confident communication. Designers must ensure that external totems and building signage are visible from a distance, legible at speed, and engineered to withstand exposed environments.
Our team will handle:
Structural coordination and foundations interface
Illumination strategy and power integration
Site specific wind loading and structural calculations
Integration with cladding and façade packages Installation sequencing within a live construction programme

Manufacturing traffic signage in accordance with relevant standards
Incorporating tactile and statutory requirements in internal signage
Delivering production and installation in phases aligned with programme milestones, while liaising closely with steelwork contractors, groundworkers, cladding installers, M and E teams, and site management. Specialist lifting operations and appropriate access equipment will be involved in the installation of large external totems, with method statements and lifting plans coordinated in advance with Glencar Construction. As with previous Extra projects, we will carefully sequence works to ensure safety, quality, and programme certainty.
Managing Movement Across a Live Environment
Traffic signage guides vehicles safely through the site. From entry points to fuel areas, parking zones and service access routes, clarity and positioning are essential.
Internally, wayfinding signage supports smooth customer journeys through retail, food and amenity areas, ensuring visitors can navigate confidently from arrival to departure.
Our established relationship with Extra MSA Group ensures we maintain consistency across sites while still responding to the specific layout and operational needs of each location.
